Hello My Name Is...
Mrs. Barker
Jeniffer
Barker’s love for teaching began many years ago when she was a little girl
playing school beneath a magnolia tree with the neighborhood children. Over the
next twelve years, Jeniffer’s passion for helping children grow and learn took
center stage in her life. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in early
childhood education from the University of West Georgia. Mrs. Barker began her
teaching career at L.W. Burnett Elementary School in 1999- the very same school
she once attended as a young child! She taught at Burnett for six years,
in both fourth and second grades, and served as Team Leader for four years and
on various professional committees. In 2005, Mrs. Barker transferred to North
Douglas Elementary and began teaching second grade until moving to first grade
there in 2011. She made the move back to second grade in 2015 and is now
completing her 19th year as a public educator. During her time at
North Douglas Elementary, Jeniffer has held a Team Leader position for five
years and has served on various educational committees. Mrs. Barker has mentored
many new educators over the years and delights in seeing their joy of teaching
develop. For next year, she is excited to be teaching third grade math and serving
on the 2018-2019 Leadership Team. Above
all, Jeniffer deeply believes being a teacher is a dream come true, and learning
is a life-long process that never ends.
