Mrs. Olivia Theodore, 5th Grade Reading Teacher
North Douglas Elementary

<I love theatre, singing, and learning, so being an educator was a no brainer for me. When you enter my classroom you will find it is a place of energetic learning. The activities the students complete engage many different learning modalities. I use music and hands-on activities to pull every student into the lessons, so no one is left out. I truly feel at home in the classroom and I view working with students as a privilege and not a job.

My educational journey began at Kennesaw State University where I received a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Urban Education. I am currently working on a master’s degree at Georgia State University in Creativity and Innovation in Education. I plan to continue working with students and eventually earn a doctorates.

I have the pleasure of being married for 12 years to a very nerdy electrical engineer. Together we are on an adventure to raise two very different children. We love reading together, traveling, and playing with our French bulldog, Jacks, and our two guinea pigs.

I am an avid  fan of everything Star Wars followed by Star Trek blended with reading children’s books and creating educational tools to help struggling students close the equity gap in education. I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else. When you’re older in life, you should sit on the porch and tell your grandchildren stories of your life. When you’re my age, you’re supposed to make sure the stories good to tell. Gotta go…adventure awaits.
