North Douglas Elementary School Counseling Program

 

North Douglas Elementary School Counseling Program is designed to help support and work collaboratively with ALL stakeholders in our school community.


North Douglas Elementary School Counseling Program Mission:

The mission of the North Douglas Elementary School Counseling Program is to assist scholars in overcoming barriers that may hinder their learning. We promote a quality education for all scholars. Furthermore, we provide a whole-hearted, enriched environment where scholars feel safe and supported to grow freely and cultivate their skills and talents. We strive to help each scholars to become well-intentioned, well-rounded, and effective contributors to their community. In support of North Douglas Elementary School, we are committed to learning, and we pursue excellence for our scholars every day.  We help to develop responsible lifelong learners that are independent,productive, and thoughtful citizens.  We do our very best to deliver a  data-driven, comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, career and personal/social developmental needs of scholars at North Douglas Elementary School. 

North Douglas Elementary School Counseling Program Vision:

Supported by the comprehensive school counseling program, all graduates who matriculate from North Douglas Elementary are fully prepared for the world of work. They are progressive, trustworthy, and accomplished individuals regardless of socioeconomic status, gender, disability, religion, and ethnic identity. Furthermore, they have acquisition of their social, emotional and personal well-being and are living as the best versions of themselves. They are self-assured, valued, and contributing citizens of society who thrive as lifelong learners. 

North Douglas Elementary School Counseling  Program Beliefs:

  • ALL scholars are capable of learning in a safe and caring environment.
  • ALL scholars have the right to self-worth and self-respect.
  • ALL scholars can successfully reach academic achievement, have a strong personal/social development and attain college and career readiness.
  • The school counseling program is an important part of every scholar’s total educational experience and impacts the school’s culture through a data-driven comprehension platform.
  • The school counseling program is an integral part of a positive learning environment that educates all scholars in the areas of academics, career, and, personal/ social development that supports teachers, administrators, and parents.
  • The school counseling program should adheres to and align with the professional and ethical standards of ASCA.
  • The school counselor is an advocate for EVERY scholar in the school.
  • The school counselor should use data to assess and to drive the school counseling program that aligns with the mission and vision of the school.
  • The school counselor should work with all stakeholders to ensure that there is continuous collaboration concerning what is best for school community.
  • The school counselor supports the school concerning the developmental needs of all scholars.

Become A Mentor!!

Douglas County School System provides many opportunities for the community to help and support our schools. One of those opportunities is to mentor students. The MATCH mentoring program is looking for people who are willing to dedicate some of their valuable time to our valuable students. For more information contact Ms. Lee or go to mentor@douglas.k12.ga.us or contact Mitzi Teal @ 770-651-2039.  Mentoring training sessions will be held at the Douglas County Board of Education Central Office located at 9030 Hwy 5, Douglasville, GA 30134. The MATCH mentoring program is a collaboration between Communities In Schools of Douglas County and the Douglas County School System.

In Case of School Closures

In all cases where we have school closings,
students in grades 1st - 5th are to view the linked videos relating to career awareness and exploration. Each grade level is assigned several of Georgia's seventeen career clusters to explore. You can get there from here by clicking on my name then click on 'Useful Links'.
