NDES Chess Club

Thank you for your interest in the NDES Chess Club.  Mr. Harber and Mr. Jolly are looking for students in the grades 3rd, 4th, or 5th to participate. In the NDES Chess Club, students will get to learn about the game, study positions to find the best move, and spend plenty of time playing chess. The club will meet on every other Tuesday from 3:00 until 4:00. We anticipate holding the first NDES Chess Club meeting starting on Thursdays beginning in September.

NDES Chess Club expectations:

1. Attend all meetings (if you must miss let Mr. Harber know by email/phone, students in Chess Club will get a schedule with my contact information)

2. Be extremely polite - Loud and/or rude behavior will not be tolerated!

3. Be picked up on time - if you think that 4:00 may be tough, but still want to participate, please sign your child up for ASP.

4. Be willing to study - Chess is like anything else, in that you only get better when you pay attention to what you are doing.

5. Be willing to do homework - YES, Chess homework! At most 30 minutes with two weeks to complete.

*Optional - There will be Douglas County Tournaments both team and individual. In previous years students from NDES won first place in team competition!!
